Update PressFlow, back up your shop and move sites

Keep configurations, orders and private files safe through plugin updates and domain changes.

PressFlow 1.25.3 · 2 min read

Guide source reviewed for PressFlow 1.25.1.

Back up the database and WordPress files before an update or site move. Product configurations, quotes, job snapshots and private artwork are database-backed; a copy of the plugin ZIP alone cannot restore them.

Update an existing installation

  1. Download the release from your authorised PressFlow purchase/download channel.
  2. Read its release-specific update guidance.
  3. Take a current backup. Test on a restricted staging copy where practical, with outgoing customer email and payment prevented.
  4. In Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, upload the replacement ZIP and use WordPress's replacement flow for the existing plugin.
  5. Check activation, the welcome licence status and the WooCommerce/PressFlow menus.
  6. Test a managed product's price, basket, artwork workspace and one existing job ticket.

Do not delete the old plugin as a data-cleanup shortcut. Deactivation removes its scheduled events but preserves stored data; plugin removal is not a complete purge of products, orders, quotes, private files and options.

The customer plugin's licence validation is not a promise of a particular automatic updater or commercial update entitlement. Use the delivery method and terms supplied with your purchase.

Move a licensed shop

Plan the activation change before retiring the old site. Release the old site activation through the welcome controls while it is still available. Move the shop using your normal tested WordPress procedure, then activate the key for the new canonical site URL.

The licence identifies the installation and its scheme, host, port and path. A changed address can show Moved even when the database was copied successfully. A staging clone should not blindly reuse production activation credentials. Check your purchased site allowance and use an authorised activation.

If the old site cannot release its activation, contact PressFlow through your purchase/support route with the old and new URLs. Do not publish your full product key or activation token in screenshots.

After a restore or move

Confirm HTTPS, permalinks, timezone, tax settings, cron, email delivery and cache exclusions. Open a private artwork download and a current proof as the correct customer. Check whether outstanding notifications need controlled retry; do not re-send every historical event.

Artwork expiry continues to apply to the restored records. A backup does not make an expired approval/download route automatically valid. Keep the restored environment private until customer access and notifications are correct.
