Getting started

Create your first buyable print product

A complete route from a draft simple product to a checked, published print configurator.

Choose one straightforward product with a price list you already trust. Business cards with a small number of stocks and finishes are a useful first exercise.

Create the catalogue listing

  1. Open Products → Add New.
  2. Give the product a customer-friendly name and add the full description, short description, featured image and category.
  3. In Product data, choose Simple product. PressFlow configurations currently apply to simple products.
  4. Review tax status/class, stock availability and shipping details. Keep the product as a draft while building it.
  5. Save the draft so it has a product ID.

Build the print setup

Open WooCommerce → Print product setup, search for the product, then work through all seven steps. A built-in setup template provides options with selling prices cleared. An installed demo product is a separate draft with example prices: replace those with your own.

Name the options as customers describe them: Card stock, Printed sides, Lamination and Production speed. Enter quantities such as 100, 250 and 500, then enter complete-job base prices for those runs. Add extras only for costs not already included in the base price.

Set production working days/cutoff if using the date matrix. Enter the artwork requirements your production process needs. In Check prices, try the cheapest job, a popular job and a more expensive stock/finish. Check the other quantities and production columns as well.

Enable and publish

In Review & enable, review the starting specification and promotion, run readiness, then enable the print setup for customers and Save print setup. A new or changed enabled setup needs a recent successful matching example price check. Readiness and product-wide coverage are useful checks but do not replace that approval.

Publish the WooCommerce product and make sure it is in stock/available. View it while signed out: a staff preview of a draft is not proof that customers can buy it. Select a specification, confirm the total and add one print job to the basket.

Verify the whole journey

Check shipping/collection, payment, order confirmation and the account or guest job workspace. Upload a sample of your own valid artwork, review it, send a proof and approve it as the customer. Record payment through the payment flow you intend to use before starting printing.

If you see Request a quote, check the chosen pricing method. If you see Configure for a price, check for a valid starting reference and missing rows. A nominal WooCommerce regular price cannot repair missing PressFlow job pricing.

Use the launch checklist before promoting the product. The worked business-card example explains base prices and extras with training figures.
